==Class Advisors==Knarf - Mostly retired, but still a decent resource.
The following is the BARE MINIMUM for Raiding in TMDG.
1. Be max level. Duh.
2. Put time, effort, and money into your character BEFORE asking to be a Raider. This means that you run Heroics, fill gems slots with decent quality gems, enchant your stuff, add that belt buckle, scope out decent pre-raiding gear, know what you want and where to find it.
3. Be on time for your Raid! 5 minutes before your Raid starts is considered LATE. 15 minutes early is on time.
4. Be prepared. This means enchants are done, consumables (food, water, potions, Flasks, spell components, etc, etc) are in your backpack, spells are learned, cash is ready for the repair bill, and your ego is left outside the zone.
5. Know your class/role cold. Don't be asking "What should I be doing?" If someone that also knows your class/role offers you advice, LISTEN! Remember that you left your ego outside the zone.
6. Research the Raid before hand so that you know what to do and expect from each fight.
7. If you are not the Raid Leader, then keep your mouth shut during the Raid. Feel free to take notes and voice any concerns that you have AFTER the Raid. Raid Leaders and Master Looters are human too, so they will sometimes make a mistake. They are also always looking for better/smarter ways to do things. You will find them to be quite receptive of your ideas if you present your idea the right way. Interrupting a Raid will not be tolerated.
8. If you have a "special Ability" ready, such as Blood Lust, make the Raid Leader aware of it and make sure that you understand when to drop it or who will call for it. Do NOT drop it whenever you feel like it.
9. Choose totems that provide the most benefit to the most people, not just you. There will be times when you will have no good choices for a given element. It happens.
10. Act like this isn't the only time that you will ever be there. If you don't win the roll, that's OK. You'll be here again next week, right?

If your reasoning is sound, great. It your reasoning is NOT sound, then your Raider status will be rejected. Basically, make sure that the build makes sense and that your reasoning is something more than "I saw it on EJ." You should bring any questions or issues with the class and any of its various specs to your class advisor.
